CA Articleship Transfer Norms in the 1st Year of Articleship Period

CA student is require to pursue the 3 years articleship training under a Chartered Accountant after clearing IPC Examination or under Direct Entry Scheme. During these 3 years period, a student is allowed to take transfers from one Chartered Accountant to another for certain reasons.

During the 1st year of articleship period, there is no restrictions on transfer of articleship. CA student can take transfer from one CA to another CA without taking prior permissions of ICAI. Some students believes that they can take transfer only one time but in fact such limitation is not stated by ICAI. Student can take transfer as many times he or she wants during the 1st year of articleship.

For taking transfer, CA student is required to submit the Articleship Form 109 duly signed by CA wherein he is doing articleship to ICAI. Once the Form 109 is submitted, he/she required to submit again Form 102 & Form 103 to ICAI for registering his/her articleship under new CA.
